Sutter Creek Observatory conducts astronomical photometry of variable stars. It is associated with the American Association of Variable Star Observers and the Center for Backyard Astrophysics.
Sutter Creek Observatory roll off roof
The observatory building is a roll off roof design. The building and roof are built with standard construction techniques and specifications. The only real difference is that on the top of the walls are mounted a steel track that extends 14' beyond the north wall on beams that support it. The roof is built on a truck with 12 steel wheels that roll on the track allowing the roof to roll to the north.
